Food & Nutrition

Picture

The Cent$ible Nutrition Program (CNP) provides free cooking and nutrition classes to income qualified families and individuals. Participants will learn how to provide the best nutrition for their kids, in order to fuel their bodies for optimal learning and development. Participants will also receive free kitchen tools for attending. This program is also available at no cost to schools and early child care facilities that income qualify (>50% free or reduced students) and want to learn more about nutrition and how to increase active play.

WIC income guidelines are online at

WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children. WIC provides nutrition counseling, health information and a monthly food package to help pregnant women, breastfeeding women, infants and children (1-5 years) stay healthy and strong.

WIC also provides breastfeeding support services, including lactation counseling/support and no-cost loans of hospital-grade breast pumps.

There is no cost to join WIC. Women, infants and children applying for WIC must live in Wyoming and meet income guidelines. If you receive POWER, SNAP (food stamps) or Medicaid, you meet WIC's income guidelines. Because WIC has generous income guidelines, many families still qualify for WIC services even if they are over-income for POWER, SNAP or Medicaid. Singles fathers, guardians or foster parents may apply for WIC for their children.

North Lincoln County WIC is at 421 Jefferson St. (the Public Health office) in Afton. Hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8am-noon and 1-5pm. Walk-ins are welcome.
